The Family Fun Fish Tournament dates are October 27, 2005 to October 29, 2005. Headquarters and weigh in is Old Bahama Bay Resort and Yacht Harbour located at West End, Grand Bahama Island. In case of non-fishable weather, an alternate date will be announced. One fishable day will constitute the tournament if the other day is cancelled.
Entry fee for the first adult angler is $295 and $250 for each additional angler. Junior angler’s registration fee is $50 for the first angler and $25 for each additional junior angler on the team. Junior anglers must not have reached their 17th birthday by the start of the tournament and must be accompanied by at least one registered adult angler.
Registration fee includes 1 angler bag per adult angler and all social events.
Social registration fee for non-competing adult anglers is $180. Non-competing children under 10 years of age are free.
Captains meeting will be held on Thursday October 27, 2005, prior to the kick-off party. All teams are urged to attend since tournament rules may be adjusted at this meeting.
Teams may leave the marina on Friday October 28, 2005 any time after 7:00 AM for the first day of fishing and must return to the marina for weigh-in not later than 5:00 PM. Boats returning after that time will have their catch disqualified. On Saturday October 29, 2005, boats may leave the marina any time after 7:00 AM for the second and final day of fishing and must return to the marina for weigh-in no later than 3:30 PM. No exceptions.
The following species are eligible in the tournament and will be awarded 1 point per pound or fraction of a pound. Dolphin, wahoo, tuna (yellowfin or blackfin), kingfish, mackerel (Spanish or cero), grouper (excluding Nassau grouper or goliath grouper), and snapper.
A separate category is open for bonefish which must be released. The winner of the bonefish division will be determined based on total number of bonefish released. Each bonefish release will be worth 100 points if caught on conventional tackle and 200 points if caught on fly rod.
In compliance with Bahamas regulations a maximum of 6 eligible fish will be accepted to be weighed per day per team. No limit on bonefish releases.
No limit on fishing area. Fish wherever you like. Tackle may not exceed 80 lb line (manufacturers stated line class) for weight fish categories or 12 lb line (or 12 lb tippets in case fly fishing) for bonefish category. Live or dead bait may be used as well as artificial lures. Teams may not fish with more than six rods at a time.
Anglers must hook and land their own fish on rod and reel including junior anglers. All Bahamian regulations must be complied with including the possession of a Bahamas fishing license for each registered vessel in the tournament. No refunds will be given for tournament registration fees within 30 days of the tournament.
All registered anglers and guests participating in the tournament enter voluntarily and at their own risk. In consideration of the tournament organizers accepting a team’s entry fee, each registered angler and guest holds harmless and indemnifies the Bahamas Fishing Club, Family Fun Fish Tournament, Signature Marketing & Travel, Inc., Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour, their officers, employees, agents, sponsors, donors and other persons connected directly or indirectly with the operation of the tournament, from and against any and all liabilities.
Anglers must complete a daily fish catch form which will be presented to the weigh station when the team’s fish are weighed, or bonefish releases are reported.
Ties will be broken based on earliest time fish was weighed or bonefish reported to the weigh station.
Any protest concerning catches made in the tournament must be presented to the Rules Committee in writing no later than 6:00 PM on the first day of fishing or 4:00 PM on the second day of fishing. The Rules Committee will investigate any protest and act upon any incident occurring during the tournament. The decision of the Rules Committee is final.
