The Bahamas Fishing Club announced its first annual Family Fun Fish Tournament to be held at West End, Grand Bahama Island, approximately 56 miles east of North Broward County. The tournament will be held at Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour. The tournament will benefit IGFA and Food for The Poor. IGFA, the International Game Fish Association, is a not-for-profit organization committed to the conservation of game fish and the promotion of responsible, ethical angling practices through science, education, rule-making and record keeping. Food for The Poor is the sixth largest U.S. based charity which helps the poor throughout the Caribbean and was the first not-for-profit organization to assist the Bahamas with food and supplies after last year’s hurricanes hit Grand Bahama Island.

Tournament Director Mike Leech, who is the Ambassador-at-Large for the prestigious IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum, is excited about this tournament; "Because of its close proximity to Florida and the legendary location of West End, this is one of the best locations you will find for a tournament because of the variety of reef and offshore fish found in this lightly fished area. Plus, Old Bahama Bay is an absolutely delightful resort and marina with plenty to do and the resort is going all out to make this tournament tons of fun."

The prime catches for the tournament will be tuna, dolphin, wahoo, kingfish, mackerel, bonefish, grouper and snapper. Prizes will be awarded by divisions. Local bonefish guides will also be available. The entry fee is $295 per angler. For details on entry fees, social fees, events, rules & regulations, and awards & prize categories, you can visit www.funfishtournaments.com. Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour is located only 56 miles from Palm Beach. This resort and full-service marina destination is complete with 72-slips featuring a control depth of 8 feet at mean low tide. One of the only night navigable nautical points of entry in the Bahamas, the Marina offers quick and efficient on-site Bahamian Customs and Immigration.
